Accountant (NGO) in HR Agency Key People

Our partner – Enabel, the Belgian agency for international cooperation – supports Ukraine’s recovery through projects in sustainable construction, energy, education, and health. Enabel works in close partnership with the Government of Ukraine and international donors to strengthen resilience and accelerate reconstruction.

We are currently looking for an Accountant to join the team in Kyiv and support financial operations of the programme.

This is a role for a detail-oriented financial professional who is comfortable working in a structured, compliance-driven environment and wants to contribute to meaningful, impact-focused initiatives.

Key responsibilities

Accounting & financial data processing
• Process and control invoices and accounting documents
• Ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance of financial data
• Enter accounting data in line with internal guidelines
• Monitor supplier balances, advances, and reconciliations
• Maintain proper filing and documentation
• Support monthly closing and preparation of financial statements
• Follow up on fiscal documentation

Treasury support
• Prepare payments and ensure timely execution
• Review and validate cash call requests

Grants & compliance control
• Review supporting documents (invoices, proofs of payment)
• Perform checks based on samples provided by finance leadership
• Prepare summaries and highlight inconsistencies

Reporting & financial support
• Enter and maintain budget data
• Provide financial information for reporting and analysis

What are we looking for?

• 5+ years of experience in accounting or similar roles
• Strong understanding of accounting principles (double-entry bookkeeping)
• Experience with accounting systems and financial reporting
• High attention to detail and ability to work with documentation
• English and Ukrainian – both required
• Experience in NGO / international projects — will be a plus
