Goal positions:The leading specialist in social counseling issues (hereinafter - the Leading specialist) ensures the effective operation of the center to provide social counseling services to beneficiaries in difficult life conditions. The leading specialist carries out a set of measures aimed at analyzing the problems with which the beneficiary has addressed, determining ways to solve them, providing information on ways to solve the beneficiary's life situation or redirecting to other directions of the Ukrainian Red Cross or external partner organizations to solve the identified problems, which is carried out with the aim of supporting the social independence of the beneficiaries, preserving and continuing their social activity.

The leading specialist can be a person with a higher education (specialist/master's degree) in the social sphere ("Social work", "Social pedagogy", "Social rehabilitation", "Social psychology") with experience of working in the humanitarian sphere and managing individual cases from 1 year. A leading specialist must possess high communication, presentation and analytical skills, be able to quickly and qualitatively process a large amount of information in limited time periods, and be able to effectively solve problems.

Main responsibilities:

1. Contact with beneficiaries

  • Getting to know the beneficiary, creating a positive image of TCHHU and the Civic Center during the first contact with the beneficiary (during the absence of the center administrator, later the first contact will be with the center administrator)
  • Establishing friendly relations of the built on trust, respect for dignitysti, principles of nonviolent communication and conditionality conditions.

2. Assessment of needs

  • Determining and analyzing the needs of the beneficiary
  • Fixing the needs in the map of the beneficiary
  • Identifying, collecting, fixing and analyzing the social problems of the community on the basis of aggregated data on the appeals of the beneficiaries, identifying gaps in the regulation of social relations in the specified area and transmitting information for further advocacy.

3. Solving the identified problems of the beneficiary

  • Development of an action plan to solve the beneficiary's problems
  • Information (providing information to the beneficiary about the services available in TCHHU and in the community that can help solve the identified problems)
  • Direct counseling, including with the application cognitive-behavioral approach
  • Accompanying the beneficiary to state bodies, communal institutions, specialized institutions, public organizations, charitable foundations, non-governmental organizations to receive a certain service as needed.

4. Cooperation with other programs within the Ukrainian Red Cross and with external partner organizations

  • Carrying out mapping of services in the community and region, including communication with responsible persons of the Ukrainian Red Cross in the area
  • Establishing relations with community institutions/organizations/institutions in the social sphere regarding the implementation of the redirection mechanism
  • Redirecting the beneficiary to other programs within the Ukrainian Red Cross, state bodies, communal institutions, specialized institutions, public organizations, charitable funds, non-governmental organizations for receiving certain services
  • Monitoring the effectiveness of redirection

5. Monitoring and evaluation

  • Collection and analysis of feedback from beneficiaries to further improve the social counseling service
  • Providing suggestions for improving the social counseling service

Additional Tasks:

  • Business trips to Ukraine;
  • Participation in work meetings, meetings according to requests;
  • Participation in strategic activities for the development of the center;
  • Introduction of document databases (common storage, Bravo library etc.);
  • Execution of management assignments
  • Participation in national and regional events for the development and standardization of social services, development of organizations and volunteering;
  • Participation in the annual planning of the center’s activities;
  • Participation in the analysis of the center’s annual plan once a quarter;
  • Monthly plantasks and evaluation of the tasks of the previous month.

General duties:

  • Actively work to achieve the goals of the Red Cross Movement.
  • Follow the principles of the Red Cross movement and work in accordance with them.
  • Perform any other work-related tasks and duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Requirements for the candidate:

  • Full higher education (social work, social pedagogy, social rehabilitation, social psychology) affairs.
  • Understanding the full cycle of consulting.
  • Excellent computer skills (Word, Excel, databases, e-mail).
  • Developed communication skills, experience in communicating with different categories of people, tact and diplomacy.
  • Developed organizational and executive skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team, fast adaptation.
  • Fluency in the Ukrainian language.
  • Proficiency in English at the Intermediate level will be an advantage.
